  • FUNDAMENTAL BARISTA SKILLS This course serves as our starting point for both experienced and new Baristas. Experienced Baristas will re-engage and practice the skills, practices and concepts that are required to produce high quality espresso coffee. For new Baristas, this is a chance to gain the core skills necessary to get started in the specialty coffee industry. WORKFLOW AND TROUBLESHOOTING Our Workflow and Troubleshooting course is the perfect follow-on for both experienced and inexperienced shop based baristas who have completed Fundamental Barista Skills. Learners will set-up a grinder to achieve high quality results, troubleshoot the many issues which arise, and produce a range of standard espresso beverages in a high-paced workflow simulation. ADVANCED BARISTA SKILLS Suitable for those who can confidently setup equipment and prepare espresso using methods outlined in Fundamental Barista Skills and Workflow and Troubleshooting, this course delves deeply in to the theory, practical skills and tasting ability required to achieve high levels of quality and consistency with espresso coffee. LATTE ART TECHNIQUES This class is dedicated to producing great milk, splitting that milk up accurately and producing a range of free poured latte-art patterns. It serves as a great primer for the inexperienced to practice steaming, and provides those with great steaming skills a chance to hone their pouring skills further.

  • Signature & Professional Barista Training Our Signature Barista Course is designed to give you all skills you need to make great coffee. Starting from the beginning, this hands-on course will teach you how to prepare and pour the perfect espresso. Whether you want to learn to make coffee at home or you want to train to be a professional barista. Advanced Barista Training Once you have learnt the basics, it’s time to get those coffee-making skills up to speed at our Advanced class. In the advanced Barista Class, we break down the Café menu, grinder extractions and fine-tuning as well as undertake coffee speed test! Our experienced trainers will help guide you through valuable multi-tasking skills of a competent Barista. Latte Art Workshop At our Latte Art Workshop our trainers will teach you all the techniques that make your coffee look as good as it tastes.   • USE HYGIENIC PRACTICES FOR FOOD SAFETY A compulsory program for those working in hospitality requiring hygiene practices to prevent contamination of food. PREPARE AND SERVE ESPRESSO COFFEE This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to extract and serve espresso coffee using a commercial espresso machine, including storage of coffee and cleaning, and care and preventative maintenance of machinery. Care and maintenance procedures may vary according to the machine manufacturer recommendations and warranty conditions. Dosage measuring may be mechanical or electronic. Dosing also refers to selecting the correct amount of ground coffee, appropriate particle grind size and prevailing conditions such as ambient humidity.   • Crema Coffee Academy offers Accredited Safe Food Handling and Barista Classes (Level 1)  twice a week as well as our Level 2 Advanced Barista Class, Home Barista Classes and Alternative Brewing Workshops.
